I learn a lot about how right and left sides are different.
I learned a lot about how my body is organized and engaged in different situations. I learned to self observe my own body.
The first impressions after standing up from the table [after a private session] were a sense of grounded-ness, a sense of
presence and inner peacefulness. [And] A sense of happiness. After sessions, my dancing felt more grounded and relax, but
at the same time more engaged and connected therefore it reflected on my dancing with my partner ... - Rosa., Dancer,

intended steps did not work out? Do you ever want to just dance without
hearing your teacher's voice or trying to remember

Arona's approach in classes is focused more on the students'
learning than the teacher's teaching. She creates a situation for the dancer to experience what "feels" right
through a variety of permutations and experiments. Rather than learning by copying or imitation, dancers are encouraged
to explore permutations, or variations, thereby finding for themselves what works best given the situation, dancer, music,
etc. In the process, the dancer not only senses for him/herself what feel comfortable and what works, but also refines
his/her judgement of what feels right for a given situation. Often dancers walk away with a sense of confidence, accomplishment
and a willingness to go further. Ultimately, students find ease in the ability to shift and adjust to any
given situation - floor space, floor craft, partner, music, mood, and the list goes on. While focusing on the sense of movement, Arona is also extremely methodical and articulate in conveying the complexities
of self-organization, shared weight, spatial awareness, partner negotiation and unspoken dialogue in a dance.
Her classes emphasize:
- the process of learning, rather than correcting
- how to vary a habitual movement, rather than correcting the
habitual movement
- empowering
the student to be his/her own judge, rather reliant on the instructor's approval
- discriminating differences through sensory-based experience rather copying a model
- excelling at your strengths by leveraging your weakness
