Studies in animal and human models have demonstrated that the mammalian brain is fundamentally plastic.
Recent studies have shown that all plasticity mechanisms are, by their fundamental nature, reversible. From that science,
we have a growing understanding of the factors in the course of our natural lives that frustrate positive brain change in
developmentally impaired children, and that drive brain change in either degrading or empowering directions in children and
adults. Importantly, this science has revealed the neurological ‘rules’ that govern neurobehavioral remodeling.
It also provides with a new understanding of the neurological origins of our individual ‘personhood.’
We have implemented these brain plasticity principles to develop efficient and effective training strategies,
now being deployed to address developmental and adult-acquired impairments in human populations. In general, our approach
is philosophically, scientifically and practically compatible with Feldenkrais® training methodologies. - Dr. Michael
Merzenich, Professor Emeritus, Neuroscience UCSF "...
