Dropping into your Still Point
Trace the slow descent of a leaf. Feel the temperature of your breath. Sense the weight of your hand on your desk.
These are simple ways we can regain a sense of ourselves, oft lost in the sea of quotidian calls to our attention.
As you read this, see if you detect the expansion and contraction of your ribs. The oldest of
all our senses is our kinesthetic sense, Long before we can see, we hear; but even we hear, we sense touch. Our kinesthetic
sense, sometimes called our sixth sense, serves as an internal compass as we negotiate bosses, decisions, and loved ones.
Who is listening? Simple every day acts of listening allows you to drop in to your
still point. Soften your eyes. Gaze
inward. Lengthen the corners of your lips. Allow the lower jaw to part. Release a whispered “ahhh” on your
next exhalation.
